I seem to recall that when Tomey's contract was extended to 2010, he agreed to a painfully large early-out clause, so UofA (or anybody else) would have to pay through the nose to get him to leave SJSU. I thought it was classy of him to agree to that -- no reliance on empty promises not to leave (though I think he did say he wasn't interested in finishing his career anywhere else), but rather a firm agreement that somebody would really, really have to make it worth his while before he'd take off. That's as fair as it gets in Div. 1 football. Just ask Dennis E.
