Posted by bambi2godzilla on 8/27/2007, 8:09 pm Thanks to Lawrence Fan, Spartan SID for the announcement: DeCosta Completes Coaching Staff Langston spent the past 10 years as the head girl’s varsity basketball coach at Sacramento High School. He won two Division III State Championships and was the 2005-06 Sacramento Bee Coach of the Year. His teams were runners-up twice and won three league championships. Langston also coached golf and assisted the Athletics Director in developing the vision and goals of the athletics department. A graduate of Cal State Sacramento with a degree in communications, Langston played collegiately for the Hornets and Pro-Am ball in Sacramento. “We are very fortunate to have John join our program,” said DeCosta. “He brings a tremendous amount of experience to our coaching staff. I have known him for many years, and he was a great high school coach. He has developed many players who have gone on to play Division I basketball. John is a great teacher and person who will help us in many different areas.” Hilgenkamp reunites with her former college coach, joining DeCosta’s staff as the director of operations. Recruited to Kansas by DeCosta, Hilgenkamp played two seasons (2000-01 and 2001-02) for the Jayhawks. She is the school’s career free throw percentage leader at .828 (72-of-87) and is seventh all-time in three-point field goals made (70), eighth in three-point attempts (187) and fourth in three-point percentage (.374). After finishing her playing career, Hilgenkamp interned with the Kansas women’s basketball program. Hilgenkamp graduated from Kansas in 2003 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She spent the past two school years as the After-School Program Manager at Kennedy Elementary in Lawrence, Kan. “I am very pleased to have KC join our staff,” said DeCosta. “She is a very creative person who will help our program in many ways, including on-campus recruiting. She will handle our booster club and various community service projects. KC is a great addition to our staff and relates well to young people.”
