The dark horse simply nods to Fei as his gaunt figure swings around to meet the questioning gold-green eyes of a girl who wonders if she is even welcome to join them. It’s always been this way for her, he thinks, that she has too much of her mother deep down inside of her that she is unable to ask for what she wants – that she is unable to ask for what she needs. Rook makes it simple for her, he nods quietly then gestures towards the way that they are going. “Come,” he says.
She watches for awhile, the elements within her going in all different directions except for the ones she wants them to go. She is hesitant, her red skin glistening as spiderwebs form their way across the cinnamon red flesh and glitter underneath the awkward light. “Can I?” She says after a long moment. Her eyes widen slightly and she steps forward with her ears pricked. Rook nods. “You are our daughter, our first born.”
“Family.” She mumbles, falling back, the heavy weight rests on her shoulders and she appears crestfallen. Ciel is almost as big as she is now give or take a few hands, and she looks nothing like them as her pale ice blue eyes and dappled coat clash against the dark red of her mother’s. It seems that the child has grown and, not only this, but has forgiven her mother for leaving her. Consider it a family trait perhaps, forgiveness runs as thick as blood does and Ciel nips at her mother’s matted mane in fondness as she waits quietly.
“Family.” Rook confirms, his green eyes shifting towards the spotted mass at her side. He’s smiling but you can’t see it, instead blackbirds find their way into Ciel’s mane and tug at it playfully. Rook grins at them both before turning to Fei. “Albatross and Ciel will come.”
“We will?” Ciel says, her sky bright eyes shining with interest. “Mother are we really going to go?” Albatross nods quietly then cuddles her daughter into her side. “If we don’t, we’ll get left behind, and we can’t have that now can we?” She’s always been frank with her daughter and perhaps it is the best thing for her. Ciel quiets down and simply follows behind her mother who in turn, follows after Rook. Shark remains by his mother’s side, and together as a family, they leave peacefully taking with them all a legacy perhaps soon to be forgotten by those who remain behind.
