And how much was lost, because of it? These things that had changed them – outward appearances, at first glance – were nothing when compared to the events that caused them. Everything he had intended to say to her, every apology and confession, vanishes upon a single word uttered from her lips: “Oh.”

And what could he possibly say? What fervent apology or heartfelt plea could possibly satisfy the questions running feverishly across her face, and the doubt that still lingers? Would she believe him if he said she had never left his thoughts, and that seeing her again was like… was like…
Heartbreak.
Silence is an awkward thing between them. It never used to be so – or, at least, the breaks in their conversations were filled with other wordless banter, not this agonizing void. He had counted on many reactions from the star-child (she would always be so, to him), but this… this he cannot answer.
“Nyota, I…”
And suddenly he realizes that the power in the air, so abnormally strong, is radiating from her - not the Earth - like the light at dawn. Having known few Oracles, he does not recognize what this means – but his eyes do fall to the scar on her shoulder, and his breath cuts short. Though it is meaningless to him (at the time), he is still vividly reminded of that day so long ago in the Glade, where Betrayal stood with his teeth closed around her crest. Requiem closes his eyes.
“I had to see you.”

OMG for some reason that was IMPOSSIBLE to write. Seriously. I started posts on three different days and finally got THAT out... which isn't much XD He feels like the biggest a-hole right now for having left >.>
