“Home.” She says simply, breathing in the earthy smells of Andarin, a smile spreading warmth to those cinnamon red cheeks. She laughs when the birds start to gather around her. They twitter and peep and click, lining up along her frame as she stands in the heart of the land. “I’ve missed you.” She says to them, her breath a gust of wind which ruffles their feather’s affectionately. Something is different in the air, she wonders, is it good or bad? The young Apprentice might not ever know, all she knows is that she’s home.
“Did you miss me?” She asks them, to which they nip and preen at her with their answers. She’s only ever had them she thinks, and at least they stayed for her.
At least they stayed.
I smelled her burning flesh, her rotting bones, her decay…
