"You are all too loud, you'll wake everyone and then they will be cross with me for coming back."
But she is laughing as she says this which only encourages a new wave of sound and flight, lost in a storm of feathers and delight. She had missed the Range, missed Legend, missed her home. The reasons she had left were no longer the reasons for which she hadn't come back though she'd meant to, but the world had turned and she had been left behind and thought it best to remain as such.
That is, until Shark had brought back some very odd news upon finding her again, as he was want to do now; he was a wanderer, dark as his father and light as his mother and as untraceable as the element to which he'd been born.
"It's dying. The wind says so."
She had queried, and he'd only smiled and shrugged his handsomely sloped shoulders. They'd parted ways shortly after that, he for the starlit shore and she, well, that should be obvious.
She is still laughing when the air shifts and the scent of blossoms catches her attention, blinking in surprise as dark eyes turn, seeking its source....only to find a mare standing at the valley's edge. She makes a valiant effort then to silence the concert that had continued overhead, birds chirping, but stilling, settling on ground and rock and tree and the backs of both mares.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make such a fuss, it's only they missed me and I them."
She is old, and her memory isn't what it was. Give her a minute. She'll come around.
