“Neevee,” Her breath comes out in one fell swoop as her ears flicker and eyes brighten. Hesper notices this, and her mother’s word that fell with a quick brush of colours. Curiously, Hesper comes towards her, watching as her mother breaths in deep with a familiar flush. “Who mum?”
“Neevee!” And with a laugh Lycoris is off.
Hesper lunges behind her mother with flinging strides, a stumbling gait so simular to the speckled mare, who did not fear for her daughter’s life even as they bolted down a slope of a mountain and send debris and rubble tumbling under them. When the tobiano foal does slip, Lycoris catches her with Bifröst, it turns into a smooth slide under the filly so she can grab her hooves back and continue flinging herself down the mountain, to meet Neeve.
“Neevee!” Lycoris’s voice is bold and bright, with her smile that shoots rainbows and her air is ecstatic, at her friend, at the relic, it trembles and burns and bursts with thousands of colours to pull lovingly around the dark girl, her leek girl… oh no, it was her orange girl, that’s right. “Neevee! You’re back!” Lycoris is feeling emotional, highly emotional as she steps towards her and there is a glimmer in her amber eyes of disbelief.
“Hi Neevee!” Hesper chirps, at the flank of her mother with wide eyes, and a curious smile. Her amber eyes that shimmered like Lycoris. It was friendliness, and curiosity, as she steps forwards towards the strange with the warm of a best friend. Because Hesper knew her mother loved this filly, (although was she much of a filly anymore?), and so obviously, Hesper would too.
The speckled mare giggles at her child and roughly rubs her poll, before swinging her head to press dotingly into Neevee’s cheek, and she coos, softly, lovingly, “I missed you, Orange girl,”
... fingers crossed, all is not lost...
