The relic blade buzzed madly beneath her shoulder. It knew. She knew. The element was no longer for this world. It was preparing to fade into oblivion. It wouldn't be long now, she could feel it. She could smell it, hear it, taste it, and practically touch it. Tears welled in her eyes, knowing her daughter and her brother would not live here as long as she had. They would not know this place like she had. Their stories would be so short. But this was the place for her daughter to be born. In her home. In the mountains. Among wolves and beasts alike. This was her world even if it was going to be taken away. Cain whimpered quietely at her side, licking the sweat that started to bead around her dropped face. He knew. Perhaps he even told her. He was this place after all. Her body fell to the ground, graceful but with a loud thud. She groaned and moaned and wanted to scream. For many different reasons she wanted to scream and cry. Give up, it was Fury, there is no point now. Follow me into dark forever. But she ignored the familiar hiss and roar of the fury inside her. She tried to focus on something - anything - to keep her distracted from the sad reality. Her daughter being born into a land that slowly blacked out and faded away. Meanwhile, Cain paced somewhere nearby. She pushed and pushed. She wished so badly the mare with fierce eyes and the wild mane was there. With her, supporting her, comforting her, loving her and telling her that it would be alright. Her daughter would always have her brother - long after this land was dead and gone. But she wasn't there. Only her haunting memory. With a final push, her memories spinning against her mind, she felt a strange calm. She was exhausted but strangely unburdened. She heard the soft pad noises of Cain's paws. He was nuzzling her neck. Trying to keep her conscious. She rolled slightly, turning back to see the wet sticky foal that she had just given birth to. She seemed so beautiful just lying there, slightly squirming. She was so pale, so not like the harsh contrast of Oceantree. She was so different and foreign. She stood, grunting as she did so. The weight against her belly was gone and she all of a sudden felt incomplete. These thoughts were soon put out of her mind though as she lowered her muzzle to her daughter. "Annwn...you are as beautiful as I imagined." She slowly began to lick the filly clean. Capturing ever physical trait and keeping it securely in her mind. Cain watched as she did so. He would help, but it just didn't seem right. The filly stirred after a while beneath her mother's tongue. She wiggled and wobbled and tried desperately to stand. Oceantree stood back slightly, letting her daughter do her own thing. Annwn fell down several times, but luckily Oceantree had expected this. She was not on the familiar rocky surface of the mountains, but rather she found a spot with thick moss and decaying leaves. The filly tried one last time and she finally got it. Her stance was wobbly at best, but she did not fall. Oceantree could finally see her. Pale as the sun's first rays, she had for cream colored socks to match the cream of her mane and tail. She looked at her wide doe-eyes and they were green and gray. So unlike her own. The green was deeper and the gray was not expected. Beneath each eye she noticed a thin row of dots that curved gently. Strange markings, but she was not mistaken. For a very brief moment she thinks of Wyvern. She brushes her muzzle gently against the filly's back not wanting to push her down. She slides her side against her, waiting for her to move. Annwn took a few hesitant steps forward, poking her mother here and there. Looking for the milk that would give her strength. Once she finally found it she flipped her tail against Oceantree's belly. Happy as a clam. As the mare watched her she saw tiny vines like thin webs spreading through her baby fuzz. Blossoms of all colors sprouted here and there as delicate as dew. She could only smile knowing she at least knew the element. "Welcome to the world, little one." A world you won't know for very long. She turned away, tears threatening her happy features. She saw the shadows coming.
