Whens the last time you heard the twins picking up a free agent at the deadline. Most of the time they are in the thick of things in July/August.
Whens the last time you heard the Marlins use that money on a veteran? They are a constant 85-90 win team that if had another player or 2 could make it to the playoffs year in-year out. Look at the numbers, they dont lie.
Instead its the yanks, redsox, angels, mets, dodgers making the moves and repeatively making the playoffs.
Money dont buy you championships, it buys you postseason appearances.
