A 2nd grade student was just referred to me because the orthodontist said she needed therapy to correct a tongue thrust. After listening to her, she does have a protrusional lisp as a result/related to the tongue thrust. Although she is getting a "tongue crib" in a few months, mom is wanting to start therapy before the crib is in place.
Does it make sense to start therapy before the tongue crib is in place?
Does it make sense to provide therpy simultaneous with the crib in place?
Should we really wait until the crib is out before determining if therapy is necessary?
Any information you have would be great!!! This mom is very persistent!!!
