What do you say to teachers.....?

Hi all! Just wondering what your response is to teachers when they ask you "What exactly is speech?" "What do you do in speecch?" I got that question once or twice last year and I got it again today and I always feel weird when I answer them. I usually quicckly summarize that we target receptive/expressive language, vocab, exposure, grammar, synonyms/antonyms, concepts, artic, strategies for the classroom etc. but I still feel like noone gets me. The sad part is, we spent sooo much time handing out info for May is BSHM and apparently they dont read it. What is your response when you get that dreaded question???
