We use 7th percentile for both. We reason that 85 is within normal limits, so greater than 1 SD below the mean is necessary for a disability to be present. BUT, we also look at language sample analysis to determine functioning and consider that, also, for language. For artic, we may also look at phonological processes following Hodson's formula and/or percent of consonants correct on the artic test compared to percent correct in a 100 word language sample. We do these especially if there is discrepancy in test score and parent or teacher information.
