I am at 47 I see almost all 2xweekly for 50 min and only 5 students 4x weekly. I feel it is an OK number, and I do have Fri afternoons for paperwork (thankfully). I think caps are a must not only for students, but also for paper work (this is what drives me crazy-it is the same crap over and over. How many times do I need to explain his artic prob.s and how he needs services). Everything else is "going green" why not out IEP's. They should have a cap of 5 pages with a 6th page for additional info (with no requirements as to what HAS to be stated). I know some students need more modifications. But I feel parents and the state see the IEP as a step by step guide to EVERYTHING you are doing for this child when it should just be a guideline to services. If you ask me our jobs would be A LOT better if we could just do tx OUR way not the states way.
I do wish AHSA would get more involved, I think like most things, over time, they are loosing sight of why they were developed in the first place.
Maybe we should re-post all these comments to the ASHA forums!!! That is if they are ever going to be up and running again.
