I have tried to stick up for myself and demand paperwork time and all that happens is I get my clinical judgement questioned. My supervisor (who was a speech therapist) will look at my caseload and imply that if I want more time I need to discharge kids. My original point will get ignored and I get questioned about why I see the kids I do. Around my area therapists still subscribe to the cognitive referencing model of discharging kids (if their Language scores are commensurate with IQ scores they should be discharged.) Thats totally against ASHA policy but I don't know how to bring that up to people who think that is ok. Basically I get told to manage my caseload better, discharge or make larger group sizes. I also have billing to do for 60 kids as well so between that and progress notes I spend at least an hour each night and several hours each weekend working. And planning for kindergarten push-in lessons and 2 1/2 hours of group lessons for our self-contained classroom....can go on and on
