I have about 50 on my caseload right now, and it's too many. I've been doing this for 23 years, and I have good routines established, know the teachers well, have the materials I need, have experience with all the "basics" etc., but there are still not enough hours to do everything well. Right now I'm preparing for 11 IEPs which are coming up in the next two weeks. Six of them are either initials or re-determinations, and I do NOT have the time to evaluate these students. It will mean cancelling someone else's therapy to test these guys. So yeah, I think most of us can get pretty frustrated with the demands of this job. I get through it all by working very hard at trying to focus on the positives, and doing the best I can. I still love this job and my students. There is no perfect career. Despite its frustrations, this one comes very close for me.
