I've been reading this forum for a while, and I know most of us working in schools have ridiculous caseloads- anywhere from the 40s to the 90s from what I have read. I'm in IL, so I know our caseload cap is 60, but I'm wondering where on earth they get this number! How can one SLP service 60 kids, keep up with all the paperwork and still provide quality therapy? And does anyone know if they take the students' minutes into account (a student w/ 90mpw should count as more than a consult student!).
My question is this: If we lived in a wonderful world where we could choose how many kids we would provide services to in the schools, how many kids could you comfortably have on your caseload and still provide quality therapy?
My caseload is in the mid-40s, and I rarely lesson plan, I feel like I am never caught up, and I wish I could plan better therapy for my kids!!
Just wondering how everyone else feels!
