Hi- I have a middle school student/ autistic/ moderately echolalic, great working memory, poor receptive language, good expressive language. Tends to perseverate and self-talk out loud on topics often and parents want to meet to discuss. Any good techniques? She has a motivating sticker chart (just for good behaviors).. but will self-talk rules (don't be loud, don't lie down, etc.), what people said, etc. usually in a quiet voice when it is not her turn during sessions. any advice to give parents? I was thinking of maybe a sensory object she could use instead (but i don't think she is big on tactile) when she is thinking of these things..or the usual social stories... thanks ahead for any advice...
