This will be a long process. There are so many things to unravel. What grade did they place him in? Are the parents educated? Does he have any services outside of school? Has he had a pediatric physical/evaluation? Vision/hearing? What does he do for play? Does he watch TV?
There are so many areas of language unknown. I would start gathering data and try to piece together
a more complete picture? When you were told he had never attended school, it made me think of the nomadic tribes, gypsies, that still roam some of the countries of the mid-east.
Be patient, you will need time. How exciting for this family. They have immigrated to America.
