My school just got a new student today who is 8 years old, speaks no english (speaks some arabic), and has NEVER been in any type of schooling (just moved here from out of the country). All that his file says is "speech problems". Where do I even begin with this? Do I do speech testing and he'll get speech services or is this an ESOL issue? I'm new this year so I have never heard of a case like this before. Where do I start?
