I think we often think of the Core Language Score as an "average" of all the scaled scores, when it's truly not. Rather it's the standard score you reference in regards to your total of the scaled scores. Let's say, for example, when you add up all your scaled scores you get a total of 40. Well, keep in mind, any combo of scaled scores can give you that number 40 that you use to reference your Core Language score. It could be 5, 15, 11, 9 that made up your 40 or maybe it was 10, 10, 12, 8. Well, you've got two very different kids, but both end up with the same Core score. Confusing, eh?
