I work in a moderate/severe disabilities classroom with kids who do not speak and are working on using basic signs, making choices with objects/pictures, etc. (very low). I have one parent who sent me an email asking if his child will always be like this/when will he talk. He also wanted to know why I can't try to work on getting his son to produce sounds (he babbles "buh" sometimes, but that's it). What do you say to parents like this?
