SLP Help Line: school ?

I have an issue. When I applied for my school SLP job I was told they would pay my license. Well I never checked to see if it was stated in my contract, silly me to trust my employer. Now they say they won't pay for it. I was just wondering if any one else who works in the school has their license paid for them? Also, a warning to others-if they say it in the interview-get it in writing. Why are we always getting pushed around!
