I completely understand! I have a high schooler - Autistic/MR and suggested we reduce his time to determine if there is regression without us or if he had plateauted. The parent & teacher didn't understand and said if he plateauted it was b/c he needed more speech. I explained that everyone has strengths and weaknesses (mine is with math...algebra? Fuggedaboudit!) and his is with communication skills and he is now functioning within the boundaries of his weaknesses and we need to now focus on strengths...I hope that sounded alright and not too condescending, but ya never know. I feel your pain.
