I just received an e-mail from my sped director regarding a male freshman with fragile x. I had seen him for years and towards the end of treatment focused on articulation as he was in a very structured life skills situation with lots of ed tech support. He was very intelligibile with remaining intermittent /sk/ errors. He had an outside eval which recommended-suprise-a speech language evaluation and treatment. He can communicate! He is in a group of about four boys most of the time and has support in all situations. An eval is only going to tell us what we already know-he is MR after all. I really think that he came as far as he could in a pull out model for speech. Consultation won't help me as I am in a situation where I am very close to max caseload, and can't appease people by offering consult just to avoid problems
