Either way, I'd just report where they're at and then continue on from there. You don't want to sound like you're passing the buck (to their previous therapist), but hopefully the parents will realize what a short time you've had with these students. I would write a more reasonable goal this time so you can show that progress from here forward. You can't do anything about what transpired before you started working with the students. Just go forward from here, and good luck!
