One of my students with autism needed to go the restroom in the middle of lunch. Once in the restroom, he became distracted and was inspecting his feet and looking at the clothes and pull-ups we store in there. Then he decided to sing and spell and count the strips on his shirt. I urged to him hurry up, "Come on, you need to use the bathroom so we can't get back to lunch. Aren't you hungry? I sure am." He looked at me for a few seconds and said, "And you look a little old and tired too."
