I had a 3rd grade student who graduated from speech after working on the /s/ and /z/ phonemes. When I turned to him and asked him if he was excited to be graduating from speech he looked at me and said, "Well, yes and no." I asked him "Why is that?" And he replied, "Well, it's kind of like a good book. You are really excited to finish, but when you do, it's sad when it's all done."
