I am a preschool teacher in a school for children with autism. I have eight children in my class. One of the boys doesn't speak at all! He spends most of his time humming! I have worked all year to stop this behavior, and teaching him when it is appropriate. He is not allowed to hum at the table, and has a huge quiet cue taped right in front of him. He hears, Quiet please all day, as I point to the quiet cue. One day at lunch, I was constantly redirecting him to "Quiet Please". He was extremely frustrated with me, and finally before I could tell him to be quiet again. He puts his fingers over my mouth and points repeatedly to the quiet cue. I laughed so hard!!!!!!!!!!!
