Children need exposure to vocabulary, especially when they don't get it at home. When I worked w/ ESE Pre-K I would try to expose them to all kinds of things. One day I brought in a pineapple (great language and artic tool). I asked my kids if they knew what it was and hands went up. The 1st boy told me "pun bah owe". His intelligibility was very poor. I of course said "This is a pineapple". He said "no, pun bah owe". I went on w/ the lesson. I realized later that he was telling me-"sponge bob's house"!!! He was 3 years old and knew I was wrong. Hehehe
I love the things our kids say!
