I don't know if any of you remember the Muppets Show (some of you were probably little kids then...I was a mom!), but there was a sketch where they sang "The Rhyming Song"...and NOTHING rhymed. It's a really funny song.
Well, I have been playing a 5 minute whiteboard game with my students where you draw a stick man and say,
"This is my friend; his name is Fred; take the eraser and erase his ___" (head)
"This is my friend; he plays in the sand; take the eraser and erase his ___." (hand)
Etc.
Most of my students caught on quickly and loved this game. One little boy, however, would enthusiastically yell out "neck!" or "elbow" or something that absolutely didn't rhyme.
When we were done (with 0% accuracy) he said "Oh that was SO FUN! Can I have a turn?" So I handed him the whiteboard and eraser. He drew a very nice stick man and said,
"This is my friend Amir. He likes dogs. Now erase his foot."
That made me laugh for a whole day. All I could think of was the Muppets Rhyming song. (If you look on youtube and type in Muppets Rhyming Song you can watch it -- kids might think it's a funny way to learn how not to rhyme).
