I was working with a kindergarten student on vocabulary, naming fruits and vegetables. We came to a pineapple and he sat and stared at it for quite some time. Eventually, I asked him if he knew what it was. He replied, "I don't know, but damn that thing's got a lot of hair!" I had to laugh, even though I knew I should go into an explanation regarding appropriate words in our speech room!
