I am a public school SLP. I also am the 5th grade student council sponsor. I was having my kids give a presentation to the 4th graders who would be in 5th grade next year. One of the questions from one of the 4th graders was 'wonder if you decide you don't like missing recesses (our meeting times) can you quit?' My response was you would have to 'talk with me about that'.....and then one of my members raised her hand (who had tried to do that very thing in Oct) and said....'well, if you try Mrs. D------- does a lot of gesturing so you won't quit!' All the teachers in the room and I looked at each other and thought "gesturing??"....When finally I said....do you mean 'lecturing?' It brought quite a smile to all of our faces!
