I'm not sure how much funding most schools SLPs receive for speech/language materials, but at in my district we get about $40 a year. Each year, I usually end up spending a couple hundred dollars of my own to buy materials. So, one day at school I found out that the teachers in one of my lower income schools were going to receive $500 each for materials. I then decided to be bold and ask the principal if there was any possibility that I could also receive some money, too. Much to my surprise, he also allowed me to spend $500! What a great day that was for me! Just goes to show you that it never hurts to ask!
