Quite possibly the connections to your master system are breaking. If so, you'll have to re-solder all the pin connections.
If it's an internal logic problem, then it's a major one and its probably best to buy another unit (and keep that one for parts). Usually you can get units (with no games, pads or even transformers) in certain junk sales...
