Posted by logan alot of people can cope and live with sle with little change in their lifestyles. i hope this will help answer some of your questions. we seem to be doing fine. i was initially afraid when i found out she had been diagnosed with sle, the more i have found out about sle & the more experiences i have shared with her, the more i realized it is a condition that you can cope with & live happily.

hey chris,
my fiance has sle. the symptoms of sle vary in intensity and location from person to person. she has to get her blood checked regularly. if her platelets get low, she has to take prednisone. she regularly takes plaquenil. these have side effects that you have to keep monitored. she leads a relatively normal life, she is active in sports & school. The biggest effects she seems to have experienced are a high occurence urinary tract and respiratory tract infections (maybe due to the suppression of her immune system by the medications). she also experiences periodic fatigue often with a low grade fever. if your wife experiences these symptoms make sure your doctor takes them seriously. one of the problems we are facing now is trying to find insurance that will work with her preexisting condition.
