Again I am happy to see everyone getting involved in all of this as I am certain you must all be bored with your own glass houses. The question of Calle Pakistan beyond the entrance to Las Mariposas is an interesting question. That land was bought with the understanding it was a road, others argued it was not a road, so to go along with a benefit of the doubt the entrance moved to assure the question of it being a road could be addressed to those locals and authorities whose issue it belonged to. If it is a road, private land, or whatever is still up in the air. I was told the road inside of Las Mariposas had to be 10 meters wide, the so called Calle Pakistan as it exists is barely wide enough for one car. Does anyone care to give up their land on either side to widen that street? Does anyone care to run the sewer line the rest of the way down the street? How about extending the water line? Putting in a drain and pump system to carry the rain water to the river? The land north of Las Mariposas is the 'new wasteland and dump'. Is that a concern? The flooding was there I suppose since the beginning of time. I do not hear anyone saying that the Judges house and wall blocked the 'floodplane' Hello, that water use to go all the way to the river, long before the Judge's house, long before Calle Saigon and all those houses, long before Tercer Mundo, and the bodegas etc. etc. The question as to if it ever flooded as much as it has recently can be answered by the photos that Juaquina (spelling wrong?) has where the water was almost up to her house, long before any wall existed. The question of mosquitos is a mute point as there are mosquitos everywhere, and where in that swamp area long before any wall. The store was built with full knowledge of the water issue, no question about it.
Bottom line, I have not seen where anyone in town has ever concerned themselves with that area when it was a filthy, polluting dump site, with trash, dead animals, broken glass, and truck load after truck load of garbage dumped there. I know because I paid to have it cleaned up, buried, filled in etc. However now, many of you seem to think it is ok to talk about it as if it has recently become a problem based on the recent changes made. Wrong! If you are all so concerned with it, lets come up with a viable solution for all, I for one have several ideas and am willing to share a part of that cost, perhaps some of you other concerned citizens would like to put up as well to help out our neighbors. Maybe it has been a long wet season and everyone needs to get out for a walk, say high to their neighbors, wish them a good day and smell the flowers.
Oh, I did have a curious question? does North America, or any country or land, belong to the indigenous people, the Europeans who came along or who? And if so, which ones? The first 10, 20, 30. Or is it the most aggressive and powerful? Was it the ones who gave of themselves, or the ones who took what they wanted at any cost? How do we make that determination? Because they were there first does that mean they have the right to keep it forever, or sell it at will? And if they sell it, does it belong to the people who bought it? Or do they have rights over it because they over powered the people there before them, does that mean it now belonged to them? Just curious.
Wishing you all a great and thoughtful day. San Pancho is a magic place, lets all share kind thoughts and keep it that way.
