Trish has compiled 17 interviews with original founders of San Pancho and Wheels has them converted to DVD's. They are stories of how San Pancho was before Echeveria did his first "development" and you might find those of interest for your research along with the photos of many of the older house that Canela was so kind to offer.
If you have time, keep us informed of your progress and anything you might need from here. We are delighted that a more formal history is being recorded rather than the "newly invented" history projected by the commercial ventures now involved.

: Hello John
:
: Thank you for your comments. I understand
: your point of view.
:
: I have also done some interviews in San
: Pancho -I interviewed some locals and
: long-time residents for my research. I'm
: using other sources as a research material,
: too -for example observation; conversations
: I've had with local Mexican residents,
: photographs etc.
:
: So this message board is not the only
: material I'm using for my thesis. However I
: believe that this message board will widen
: the perspective of the social change that is
: going on in the village.
:
: I hope you are all well, muchos saludos para
: todos que me conocen!
:
: Abrazos, Riikka

: Nice to hear from you and great to hear that
: the family continues to grow.
:
: I am going to have to say Rikkii, I doubt if
: this board will have any valid research
: material for you as we are required to use
: English and the community you are writing
: about have rarley checked in and those that
: do post here, including me, will only see
: the changes as outsiders with our own myopic
: views and we, like you, have the resources
: to pick up and go to "a more
: comfortable world" any time we choose.

: Thank you John for your response!
:
: I originally came to San Pancho in 2003 to
: do some voluntary work in Grupo Ecológico de
: la Costa Verde. I also wanted to learn more
: Spanish as I was a student of Hispanic
: Studies at the University of Aberdeen in
: Scotland.
:
: During my stay in San Pancho I also taught
: English at the local primary school. I loved
: living in the pueblo and that´s why I ended
: up staying there for more than 2 years
: instead of 3 months, as I had originally
: planned
:
: Right now I live in Finland and I study
: Sociology at the University of Lapland in
: Rovaniemi.
:
: I have some family in San Pancho as my
: boyfriend is from the village. The
: grandparents, greatgrandparents, aunts,
: uncles and cousins of our two children
: (right now we have just one but the new baby
: will be born anytime soon!)live in San
: Pancho.
:
: My research topic is about the social change
: that is going on in San Pancho. I have
: noticed that the small, beautiful little
: pueblo is going through some major changes
: now as the new investors are taking over.
: All these changes affect the original
: community. With my research, my aim is to
: find out what those changes are and how do
: the locals feel about them.
:
: Best regards, Riikka
:
: Gracias John de tu respuesta!
:
: Pancho. He dado cuenta que el pueblo está
: cambiando muy rápido, por los invensores
: extrañjeros que últimamente han llegado.
:
: En mi Tesis quiero investigar, cuáles son
: los cambios que estan pasando en San Pancho
: y como se siente la gente del pueblo sobre
: ellos.
:
: Bueno, espero que nadie tenga nada contra de
: mi investigación academico!
:
: Saludos, Riikka

: Good luck with that thesis Riikka and you do
: not need permission to use this board for
: any thing you want as long as it not a
: business.
:
: And a a personal note, if you care to, let
: the readers know why you were in San Pancho,
: who you are and where you are writing your
: Master's Thesis.
