I have only run the half marathon there last year. The people are very friendly and helpful. The half is fairly flat with no real inclines. I have heard that the second half has a hill around mile 19 but other than that it is not bad. If you go on the the Barrington site you will find a list of some hotels etc.
The sites are rural with very few spectators but it goes around the causeway in a figure eight pattern. You can see the finish line from quite a distance.
