Back in May 2009, I made a decision to lose weight and take control of my lifestyle. I have successfully lost a total of 45-50 pounds but I also made a decision that I was going to be a runner. At 230 lbs I started my training, being able to run only 30 seconds and then walk 4 mins to recover but I was determined...
Having my husband as my personal coach and biggest supporter, I eventually ran a 5 km in June 2010 and then in September 2010 I made a goal to run a 10k and I did it! I have been running ever since and currently can run 17.5 km in 2 hrs 19 mins. This year I wanted to accomplish a goal I didn't think possible... run a half marathon.
I wanted to accomplish this goal for myself as well as give back. I volunteered with Street Connection in December 2010 and really felt an appreciation for this organization. They work so hard to feed under privileged children in their "Meals on Wheels" bus in our community and with rising food/gas prices I know things haven't been easy. They had to give up yogurt to offer the kids because of it's cost and when I volunteered, it was the most requested item!
