Trying to trace my father's movements when he was in North Africa from 1941. We have a Christmas card from him in Cairo, Egypt. My dad died back in 1997 and I have kept his war medals. At one point in N.Africa he was caught out at the back of a convoy (he did tell me he pulled a gun carraige) and bombed by enemy aircraft and had to be dug out of the sand. He had shell shock but made a full recovery. The Xmas card has these details 1514156 Gunner Crosland, 51st St Hy AA London Rgt. RA, 152 Battery, M.E.F.
I realise I might have gone down the wrong channel but would appreciate it if someone could put me in the right direction.
My dad didnt talk about the 2nd World War a lot so I would like to research him more. He did some early training in Norway and then got sent to North Africa via Cape Town. I dont know by which ship either.
I look forward to hearing something. Many thanks
Steve
