Posted by iceburn on 8/15/2004, 4:10 pm http://www.houseofice.com/images/new/ The images are of executions and related gore in China presumably during World War II (or at least after 1933 and before the end of the war.) The only thing that Danny knows about his relative is that he served with the Marines during World War II. I was thinking of posting the images to the Chinese Holocaust section, but I've met a little bit of a predicament. Other than not being able to establish the authenticity of the photos, some of the photos seem to suggest atrocities not committed by the Japanese but by the Chinese. Specifically, image AUG08023.JPG, which specifically states "Chinese executing a woman" not "Japanese executing a woman." I know that beheadings and executions were not only done by the Japanese army, but the fact that there are American soldiers participating in/observing the events in that photo suggests to me that Danny's relative may have been with Chinese army units that were perpetrating these acts. Consequently, I have a bunch of questions about these photos that I was hoping some of you might help me answer. 1.) What American units were stationed in China before and during World War II? Thank you for your time, Iceburn

I was recently contacted by a man named Danny Siliven through the House of Ice inquiring if I would like to post some photos he had found in a late relative's estate. He had found the Chinese Holocaust page and thought the photos relevant to the topic. You can see the photos here:
2.) Does anyone recognize these photos specifically?
3.) Does anyone recognize scenery in these photos?
4.) Can anyone tell if the uniforms pictured in AUG08023.JPG and AUG08022.JPG are from the same side (ie Chinese or Japanese or other?)
5.) What are your thoughts on these images?
