I understand your stance. I feel the same way about treason, but I also think that government officials do it everyday. We live in a country where just about everything is for sale. Got to love capitalism. So, what kind of scenario would have taken place if White had been appointed? Are you thinking that White would have tipped the scales in favor of the Soviet Union causing the United States to topple by 1989, or are you thinking that White may have eased the tension between the two countries and lightened the effects of the Cold War? I'm just not seeing how White being appointed would have had negative effects on our world power position or a relative peace, rather than the prolonged strangling of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe from post World War II to the late 80's. I have no idea what Duggan was really capable of, though. Do you know anything else about him, other than what you've read about the Venona cables? You know I love what if scenarios . Iceburn
