I left my opinion on this topic with the History Channel board, but they censored my posts and banished me because I didn't tow their party-line.
I think it's self-evident that Pan-Slavism and ethnic nationalism, of which Prinzip was a proponent, was a huge threat to the KuK Hapsburg Monarchy, and it would be cynical to expect the Hapsburgs not to have reacted to provocations against their imperial authority... Russia and Britain were in cahoots with the Pan Slav nationalists, just as they rewarded them with the formation of new states out of Germany and Austria/Hungary at Versailles: Poland, Czechoslovakia, Romania, etc...
Interesting how Britain, the world's biggest global imperialist in WWI, wasn't even willing to grant Ireland independence (had to fight the Anglo-Irish war 1919-1921) but the Anglophone world cynically continues to condemn Germany for imperialist aggression right up through the present. But then again, Churchill said that the truth is so precious that it must be protected by a bodyguard of lies. I treat most of what officialdom spouts re. WWI and WWII history as distortions of the truth...
