Posted by iceburn on 11/2/2003, 4:48 pm, in reply to "Blame for WWI" I'm reminded of a passage in Genesis regarding the great flood, in which God made a covenant with Noah saying something like he would never flood the earth again and kill all the creatures on earth to punish man, because he now saw that man was born with evil intentions, and such punishment was unnecessary and fruitless (This is actually Genesis 8:21, for those of you interested. The covenant concerning no more floods is actually made in Genesis 9:11, 8:21 is more of a thought on why God was going to make this provision of the covenant.) Anyway, no more talk of scripture. Amusing, indeed! Blaming any one party for World War I is the same as blaming Churchill for defending his country. War is part of human nature, in my opinion, and such a war was bound to happen, as the powers that be just had to try out their new toys (armies and weapons) and flex some couped up muscle.
