I had an amusing argument with a friend lately on blame for causing WWI. He claimed German militarism destabilized Europe and led to war. I said that this amounted to blaming Germany for becoming a nation later than everyone else, because their supposed crime was just an attempt to imitate the other major powers of Europe.
