Maybe I'm wrong, but when news broke out that US tanks were in Baghdad, the stock markets jumped sharply around the world. By contrast, when the Iraqis were putting up fierce resistance in Nasiriya, the stock markets went down.
Now I don't do business studies but this short term indicators coupled with the employment of companies needed to rebuild the country, as well as produce weapons and equipment needed for the US military would be good for the economy to some extent.
