Posted by Allen on 4/3/2003, 6:09 pm, in reply to "About the media coverage." In re Fox, that Vester woman looks like she's having a panic attack all the time. I think having reporters embedded with the troops is a great idea. It amounts to a demonstration of how important freedom of the press is to this administration. We should be able to find out what is being done in our name, and it's reassuring to know that it isn't being hidden. I wonder what the troops think of it. In re all the bad-mouthing of Rumsfeld on account of not waiting to launch the liberation til the 4th Division was brought around, I disagree, and I think there might be some mind games going on. If you lose ground, you can always get it back. If you lose guys, you can always get more guys. If you lose time, you can't get that back. No one knows what would have happened if we had waited til mid April to have the 4th Division go in with the rest from the south. I'm guessing there would have been many more than 9 oil wells blown up and all of the bridges would have been blown. Plus, many more innocent Iraqis would have been murdered by Saddam(what is his career monthly average?). I submit for your consideration the idea that the lack of preparedness of Iraqi demolitions was related to the fact that they believed themselves safe as long as the 4th Division was at Ft Hood.
