In Iraq I think little will change except that Saddam and the other top leaders of the Baath party will be removed. UN (or US/UK if the others won't join) will then appoint a new leader until an election will be held. Probably this leader will come from the Baath party (what other choises are there?) as long as he is friendly to the US and promises to leave the kurds and shias alone (they will not get independence though). In the election, the Baath will get a majority of the seats, and as long as they won't declare the west as "The Big Satan", the rest of the world will accept this. And after a while, we have a new dictator, only this time is he friendly to the west.
I am not against the coming war, but I think it is naive to believe that Iraq will be democratic just because Saddam is removed. But of course, things will get better down there.
