Posted by iceburn on 2/18/2003, 2:35 pm I think he's stuck now in the web his administration has wove. He has to wait for the arms inspectors. He has to wait for the Iraqis. Time and anticipation make the mind grow anxious. Even a strong bluff shouldn't take this long. What does everyone else think about the tactics of the Bush administration? Bush may have signed his non re-election ticket with his recent moves with Iraq. No, I'm not talking about his Axis of Evil speech, or even his wish to overthrow the Iraqi government. The fact that he's waited this long to start a war with Iraq is hard for me to swallow. The only thing he is doing is allowing the opposition to build. If he really wanted to go to war with Iraq, boost his ratings, and seek re-election, he should have declared war almost immediately. He's waited so long for unilateral international support, that I think it's pretty much a certainty that he won't get it (nor do I think such unilateral support was ever possible). If you're going to do something, do it quickly and decisively. Afterwards, you can talk about it, and what you should have done differently, but since his attitude has always seemed to be "We're doing this for the safety of America, etc., etc. We need to act now," the whole scenario seems comical to me. Please don't misunderstand. I have several friends in the armed forces, and I'm as anxious as they are about losing them to warfare, but this whole situation is quite possibly one of the best examples of politically inept moves I've encountered in my short life.
