Plus, the Japanese would have been able to take the entire Pacific, endagering America to begin with. Also, it would have been worse. The Japanese could have assisted the German War effort in Russia (although their assistance would have been minimal. The Japs learned their lesson at Babyn Yar).

It's kind of like when Hitler lost Stalingrad. He couldn't take troops out of France just to fight the Russians.
